Probably one of the most common obstacles I see when people begin playing piano is that of not being able to get that delicate balance between being tense – which causes harsh and inconsistent dynamics and non-fluid motion across the keyboard – and relaxation – which allows for much greater flow and overall pleasing-to-the-ear performance (not to mention being more comfortable to play – especially if you’re playing for a while in one go!)
